Coastal Vulnerability Assessments

The stability of Tasmanian coastal ecosystems and geomorphology is increasingly threatened by potential impacts of climate change. Owing to this, many development projects are now factoring in risks associated with coastal erosion due to sea-level change.

NBES can conduct detailed coastal and geomorphology vulnerability assessments using criteria developed in accordance with the Tasmanian Government’s guidance for land use planning and building in coastal areas, which includes sea-level rise planning allowances and coastal hazard maps. Our coastal vulnerability assessments also allow projects to comply with relevant Local Government Authority planning schemes.
